2026 South Jersey Farmers Summit

The South Jersey Farmers Summit brought together farmers, agricultural leaders, policymakers, and partners for a solutions-driven day focused on strengthening regional agriculture. Built by farmers, for farmers, the Summit created real pathways for collaboration, regulatory dialogue, and long-term sustainability. What began as a gathering has already evolved into active initiatives shaping the future of South Jersey farming.

Summit Overview & Key Outcomes

The inaugural South Jersey Farmers Summit brought together 160+ farmers, agricultural leaders, partners, and policymakers for a full day of practical discussion focused on strengthening the region’s agricultural economy. Conversations centered on fertilizer cost savings, supply chain partnerships, agritourism growth, legacy planning for family farms, and the regulatory challenges impacting farm viability across New Jersey.

The Summit moved beyond dialogue and into action. As a direct result of the event, South Jersey Preservation has launched several initiatives, including the development of large-scale grower partnerships, formation of a Subject Matter Expert Advisory Panel, establishment of a farmer-led “Red Tape Committee” working with state leadership, and research toward modernizing New Jersey beef regulations. Post-event survey results showed measurable impact, with significant increases in farmer confidence, connectivity, and belief in a strong regional support network reinforcing that this Summit marked the beginning of sustained, action-driven progress for South Jersey agriculture.

Next Steps

Red Tape Committee (Launched)

A farmer-led working group meeting directly with state leadership to identify, prioritize, and address regulatory barriers that disproportionately impact South Jersey agriculture. The mission is to pursue practical, achievable reforms that protect safety while improving feasibility and competitiveness for local producers.

Beef Industry Strategy Meetings (SME Advisory Group - Launched)

Ongoing strategy sessions with subject matter experts and regional beef producers to evaluate regulatory structure, processing limitations, and market constraints. The goal is to develop a clear, data-driven framework that supports safe, economically viable beef production in New Jersey.

Local Table Network (Launched)

A regional B2B sourcing network connecting South Jersey farmers directly with restaurants, chefs, and food buyers. The mission is to strengthen local supply chains, increase farm profitability, and keep more food dollars circulating within the South Jersey economy.

"When we look at one another as competition, things don't work. But when we can sit together as a united industry we can formulate better questions for the politicians and committees."
